[29 Dec 2009|07:20pm] foibey Wow. Found a new reason to pick my guitar back up. Have been stuck on Rock Band for a bit not being able to get through various parts. Have been practicing a tiny bit on guitar. Managed (after being away from Rock Band for ages) to get through Deep Purple's Highway Star on expert with 5 stars all of a sudden after not being able to complete it at all and then clear Aerosmith's Train Kept a'Rollin. It'll still be a long time (if ever) before I'll be able to do Yngwie Malmsteem's Caprici di Diablo still, but I think it's probably a sign that if I work up finger strength and flexibility playing a real guitar I should be able to break through stumbling blocks I've been having on Rock Band generally. My next Rock Band block to complete is Green Grass and High Tides (I flunked at about 80% or so, so basically I need to worm on those fast repeated runs a bit). Got to give my hands a break now though. Just done an hour of (proper) guitar practice. Having been out of playing since forever much more than that would kill them. Ouch. • Wanna Ride? •

[23 Dec 2009|09:53pm] foibey I've just finished 4 hours (5 pages, 2152 words) documenting in step-by-step format a 40-minute chunk of my working day, for the use of someone who has never done it before. I've never had to think about the (fairly simple, but important-to-get-right) stuff I do in that much detail before.
